Effective 1 July 2026, the Australian Government has increased the salary thresholds for employer-sponsored visas. These changes apply to nomination applications lodged on or after this date.
Updated Thresholds
The Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) has been indexed to $79,423. This affects the Skills in Demand (Subclass 482) visa, Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186), and Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Subclass 494) visa. Furthermore, the Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT) is now $79,499.
Employers must ensure that sponsored employees are paid at least the applicable income threshold and the annual market salary rate for the role.
| Threshold | Previous Rate | New Rate (From 1 July 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| TSMIT | $76,515 | $79,423 |
| CSIT | $76,515 | $79,499 |
Employer Implications
In addition to the higher salary requirements, Visa Application Charges for employer-sponsored visas have also increased by approximately 25%. Employers must audit all pending nominations to confirm they meet the new thresholds before lodgement to avoid costly refusals.
