The Department of Home Affairs has implemented significant increases to Visa Application Charges (VACs) across most subclasses, effective 1 July 2026. This unannounced change sees many fees rise by approximately 25%, substantially higher than the standard annual indexation.
Key Increases
- Temporary Graduate (Subclass 485): Increased to $5,750.
- Partner Visa: Increased to $11,710.
- Resident Return (Subclass 155): Increased from $490 to $1,475.
- Bridging Visa B: Increased from $190 to $575.
These sudden hikes significantly increase the upfront financial commitment required for applicants and their sponsors. The cost of a refused application is now much higher, making it imperative that applications are lodged correctly the first time.
| Visa Subclass | Previous Fee | New Fee (From 1 July 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Temporary Graduate (485) | $4,600 | $5,750 |
| Partner Visa | $9,365 | $11,710 |
| Resident Return (155) | $490 | $1,475 |
| Bridging Visa B | $190 | $575 |
Strategic Planning
Applicants and employers must revise their visa budgets immediately. With the higher financial stakes, seeking professional guidance to ensure compliance and a strong application is strongly recommended.
